You know it's been some time since I logged in here; and probably I had logged in before and wrote something and deleted it from my postings. Nevermind, it was intentional. But this I had to write.
I was at Putrajaya's Parcel D very very recently for a meeting at one of the blocks. It was an early morning affair and I arrived a little ahead of time only to be held back by aimless driving around for a parking spot! The whole place was full! No worries, I had a disabled parking sticker (the issuance of these stickers are strictly controlled by the government). Well, ha ha fat chance of it being any use. Not in Malaysia.
I'm sad that a disabled parking sticker is next to nothing here. Worse still, every guard I approached and pleaded with didn't want to give me the time of day, saying simply "dah penuh" (it's full) EVEN after pointing out to them that my disabled parking sticker was on prominent display. Fat chance! Most guards in Malaysia are just too dumb to have any civic consciousness nor ordinary logic to help out a disabled driver. Too dumb. Blindly following an actually unwritten rule which was supposed to be flexible enough to accommodate disabled drivers provided they don't obstruct traffic flow.
Worse still, I noticed several "coned" or cordoned spots meant for official visitors (not even VIPs) and official cars, but the dumb guards are just to too dumb to make way for a soul in need of only an hour or so of parking. It was unbelievable. I never want to look down on people but somebody told me... "that's why they're just guards!" But hey, I've met many intelligent guards before in Singapore and the UK, and even at my condo in Desa Pandan. Some are even my good friends to this day. Something is definitely wrong with the system in Putrajaya.
I wasted 45 minutes circling around Parcel D. I was directed to the basement parking area and circled down there several times. There were actually disabled parking spots designated BUT ALL were parked cars WITHOUT disabled parking stickers! Perhaps insensitive visitors or office workers. Sad. Frustrated, I approached another guard - an elderly gentleman. He too made a big fuss but after explaining to him my situation, he directed me to the SAME place I was refused parking by another guard before that. It was a dumb situation.
Moral of the story -- it shouldn't have been like this. I should have never had to struggle to get a disabled parking spot. Totally sad, Malaysia!

Hi There,
We are organising a protest against people parking in disabled spaces - when they have no need to be there! Here are some details about the peaceful protest below;
Disabled Parking Demonstration - Out the Able-Bodied, Feeble-Minded
We want to inform you about a peaceful demo that’s about to take place (20 June, central London location rife with offenders) that’s happening to SHOW-UP and SHAME all of those arrogant drivers that think it’s OK to park in disabled bays without a blue badge, and to stop them doing it, once and for all.
This is a small minority of SELFISH people, and it’s about time someone made a noise about it. Whether you know someone who has a blue badge, are a holder yourself… or it simply gets right up your nose – all welcome.
We, Seabrook, has joined forces with a niche group of London based protesters who have alerted us to their intentions to try and get some attention from the media and the public on this disgraceful practice. They saw our TV adverts, liked what we stand for, and asked for our help.
The War on Error Has Begun…”you’re in the wrong space, mate”.
We’re a brand that feels strongly about speaking out – in fact, our strapline is A Right Proper Gobful - so this puts us in a perfect position to support and add our weight to the protest to make it as attention grabbing as possible.
We have a dialogue with the public, and we can say, with authority, that one of the nations major bugbears is people taking-up blue badge holder spaces – when they shouldn’t be!
What do you think? Is it about time the able-bodied, feeble-minded be called into question?? Do you feel as passionate about this as us???
Let us know. Even better, join us in our protest in London on 20th June, in Soho Square, 11am. Call Jane, now, on 07920 047 081 for more info on the demo and materials.
